Chris Myers was a mainstay on the offensive line for the Miami football team in the 2000s. Myers was a versatile player who was able to step into any position upfront.
Chris Myers started games at center, guard and tackle on the offensive line for the Miami football team from 2000-04. Myers began his Miami career by redshirting in 2000. A versatile performer, Myers received his first collegiate snaps as a backup on the Miami offensive line as a redshirt freshman in 2001.
Myers was a valuable reserve as Miami won the 2001 National Championship. As a redshirt sophomore in 2002, Myers became a starter at right guard. Myers led the 2002 Miami offensive linemen with an impressive 40 pancake blocks. During the entire 2002 season, Myers allowed only one sack.
Myers became an anchor on the Miami offensive line from 2002-04. As a redshirt junior in 2003, Myers remained a starter at right guard until late in the season. An injury to center Joel Rodriguez moved Myers inside, starting the final three games in the middle of the Miami offensive line.
Playing at both RG and C, Myers was named second-team All-Big East in 2003. Myers continued to be a reliable force for Miami upfront. For the second straight season, Myers allowed one sack for the second season as Miami finished 11-2 and defeated Florida State in the Orange Bowl.
Myers continued to show versatility as a redshirt senior in 2004. A move to right tackle helped Miami finished 9-3 and end the season with a Peach Bowl victory over Florida State. Following his career at Miami, Myers was the 200th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2005 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos.
Myers played three years with Denver as a backup guard and center before becoming a starter at center in his third season. Denver traded Myers to the Houston Texans for a sixth-round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft. Myers finished his NFL career in Houston as the starting center in every game for seven seasons. Myers retired in 2014.
