Adam ElGammal was the 1259th player, 99th ranked offensive tackle and seventh-ranked player in New York in the Class of 2019 via the 247Sports composite rankings. ElGammal was rated three-stars when he signed with the Miami football program in 2019. ElGammal spent 2019 on the Miami practice squad.
With offers from Cincinnati, Rutgers, Temple and Virginia, after decommiting from the Bearcats, El Gammal eventually signed with Miami in December 2018 during the early signing period. ElGammal is a long term project for the Miami football program who will add depth at offensive tackle.
At 6’5, 298 pounds, ElGammal gives Miami the ideal size at tackle. ElGammal has added 23 pounds to his frame after signing with Miami at 275 pounds. During the spring, ElGammal reportedly was on the third-team offensive line. ElGammal might need another year of growth for Miami.
The Hurricanes will lose senior guard Navaughn Donaldson and Houston graduate transfer offensive tackle Jarrid Williams after the 2020 season. Redshirt junior center Corey Gaynor and junior offensive lineman Delone Scaife have the option of entering the 2021 NFL Draft. The 2021 Miami offensive line will look different.
ElGammal will have a chance to earn significant snaps on the offensive line in 2021. Ahead of ElGammal will be redshirt 2021 redshirt junior John Campbell and 2020 incoming freshmen Issiah Walker and Jalen Rivers as the primary competition to start at tackle in 2021. ElGammal will work on refining his skills in 2020.
ELGammal has proven he is a hard worker. The nearly 25 pounds of muscle ELGammal has added in 18 months since signing with Miami was added to being named to the most recent ACC honor roll as he shared on Saturday morning. ElGammal will continue to be a valuable member of the Miami football team.
