Miami football prospects, four-star safety Kamren Kinchens who will commit next month is considered to be a more polished college prospect than five-star athlete James Williams according to a recruiting analyst.

Four-star safety Kamren Kinchens who the Miami football program is considered the co-favorite with Auburn to receive a commitment from next month is more polished than five-star safety James Williams according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald in a column published earlier this week.

Williams will play safety in 2020 for American Heritage in Plantation after transferring from Western High School earlier this year. The 10th ranked player nationally, Williams is currently listed as the top-ranked athlete in the 2021 college football recruiting cycle. Kinchens could be more college-ready.

There is a lot of speculation about what position Williams could play in college. Williams has been compared to former Clemson linebacker Isaiah Simmons who was the eighth pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. Jackson was told by an evaluator that Williams could wind up at defensive end in college.

Williams named the Georgia and Miami football programs as finalists earlier this month. The talent evaluator told Jackson “Kinchens is a better playmaker and further along than Williams.” Kinchens is the 298th ranked player, 19th ranked safety and 49th ranked player in Florida in 2021. Williams is number one in Florida in 2021.

Although Auburn and Miami are considered the favorites to sign Kinchens, the Tigers, Hurricanes and Texas A&M are all listed as warm according to his 247Sports profile. Kinchens will announce his decision on July 11 which is two weeks from Saturday. The 2021 Miami class would move from 11th to ninth with the addition of Kinchens.

Kinchens would join a strong class of safeties Miami signed in 2020. Miami signed the second-ranked safety in the 2020 cycle, Avantae Williams as well as four-star safety Jalen Harrell who was the nation’s 23rd ranked at the position in 2020. Miami also signed three-star safeties Brian Balom and Keshawn Washington.
