The Miami football program is still without a committed quarterback for 2021. With the fanbase pushing for four-star Jake Garcia from California, the Hurricanes staff has several other prospects on their radar.

After four-star wide receiver, Romello Brinson commited to the Miami football program earlier this month a grassroots movement led by UM’s top-ranked 2021 commit began for four-star California based quarterback Jake Garcia. The Miami fanbase has become hyperfocused on the Hurricanes getting a commit from Garcia.

The Miami coaching staff is keeping their options open with Garcia currently commited to USC. While still working on Garcia flipping to Miami, other options remain at QB for Miami. Four-star Houston based QB Jalen Milroe who is currently committed to Texas and Florida based QB Jay Allen are currently being recruited.

There has been a lot of speculation about if Garcia will de-commit from USC after the Trojans added four-star QB Miller Moss as the second signal-caller for 2021 after Garcia commited in September 2019. Garcia told 247Sports earlier this month he knew about USC’s plans to sign two QBs in 2021.

Andrew Ivins of Inside the U reported on Thursday that “some inside his camp expect him to eventually open things back up and take a good hard look at Miami.” If that is the case, if Garcia does de-commit from USC that other programs are likely to recruit Garcia hard as well. As of now, Garcia is firmly commited to USC.

Milroe seems like a stronger commitment to Texas than Garcia does to USC. According to Ivins, Milroe has been “actively recruiting” for Texas. Milroe played for the same seven-on-seven team as Miami graduate transfer QB D’Eriq King. It has not been reported if the two have been in contact but they do have a relationship.

If Milroe does decide to reopen his recruitment, Alabama and Miami appear to be in the best position to flip him from Texas. There has been some speculation that the Longhorns could also be interested in signing two QBs in 2020. The information Texas wanted two QBs was primarily centered around Milroe and Garrett Nussmeier.

Nussemier commited to LSU this spring. Garcia is the seventh-ranked QB in the Class of 2021, Moss ninth, Milroe 11th and Nussmeier 13th. Moss and Nussmeier were invited to the Elite 11 QB camp taking place in Murfreesboro, Tennessee this month. Garcia and Milroe did not receive an invite to Elite 11.

The third QB now being recruited by the Miami football program is three-star athlete Allen from Fort Pierce. Allen was invited to Elite 11 ahead of Garcia and Milroe. Allen was the TCPalm 2019-20 Male Athlete of the Year. Currently commited to Florida for baseball, Allen also plays basketball for John Carroll High School.

Allen threw for 1,725 yards and 14 touchdowns and ran for 690 yards and another eight TDs in 10 game during his junior season. In two high school seasons, Allen has 3,828 32 TD passes and 18 interceptions with 1,377 yards and 22 TD rushing. Ivins reported that some schools are projecting Allen as a defensive back in college.

dark. Next. Miami could be too far from home for Jake Garcia

TCPalm reported that Allen is an outfielder in baseball and projected to be a high selection in the 2021 MLB Draft. Allen has not received an offer from a Power Five school to play football. The most prominent program to offer Allen a football scholarship is Air Force. Allen could be a name to watch for Miami.
