Brett Romberg anchored the offensive line for the Miami football team as a center from 2000-2002. The Hurricanes went 35-2 during the three seasons Romberg was a starter.

Brett Romberg signed with the Miami football program as an offensive lineman from Windsor, Ontario just outside of Detroit. Romberg was a multi-sport star in high school. Romberg set the Ontario shotput record and also participated in the javelin. In baseball, Romberg was good enough to play for Team Ontario.

Romberg also played basketball in High School. Football was Romberg’s best sport and he ultimately focused on that with the Miami football program. Romberg was the second-best football player in Canada in the Class of 1998. After two seasons in South Florida, Romberg started his first game with the Hurricanes in 2000.

With 37 consecutive starts, Romberg never came out of the Miami starting lineup. As the center in the middle of the Hurricanes offensive line, Romberg made called most of the blocking schemes. Miami played in three straight BCS Bowl games with Romberg starting on the OL.

The Hurricanes won the 2001 National Championship after a victory in the 2002 Rose Bowl and appeared in the 2003 Fiesta Bowl. Romberg famously never allowed a sack during his collegiate career. Following his senior season in 2002, Romberg was named the winner of the Dave Rimington Trophy.

The Rimington Trophy honors the best center in college football. Romberg was also a consensus All-American in 2002. Romberg began his NFL career as an undrafted free agent with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2003 and stayed in Duval through the 2005 season. That was followed by three seasons with the St. Louis Rams.

Romberg finished his NFL career with the Atlanta Falcons in 2009 and 2011. Post career, Romberg has been a long time sports talk show host in South Florida. Romberg can currently be heard daily on 1210 The Man from 7-10 AM.
