Miami football adds Kamren Kinchens as 2nd highest 2021 defensive commit
The Miami football program added four-star safety Kamren Kinchens as their second-highest-rated commit to their 2021 recruiting class when he announced his intentions on Saturday.
Four-star safety Kamren Kinchens became the fifth player from Miami Northwestern High School to commit to the 2021 recruiting class for the Miami football program when he announced his collegiate intentions on Saturday. Kinchens is the second-highest-rated defensive player commited to Miami for 2021.
Kinchens chose Miami over Auburn and Texas A&M. Auburn was the fiercest battle Miami had to receive the commitment from Kinchens according to multiple reports this week. Kinchens is the 299th ranked player nationally, the 20th ranked safety and 49th ranked player in Florida in the Class of 2021.
With a rating of .8980, Kinchens is the second-highest rated defensive player commited to Miami for 2021. Four-star defensive tackle Savion Collins who many recruiting analysts project to flip to Florida is currently the highest-rated defensive player commited to Miami for 2021 with a .9095 rating.
Kinchens joins his Miami Northwestern Bulls teammates, four-star wide receiver Romello Brinson, and three-star commits, tight end Khalil Brantley, linebacker Ja’Corey Hammett and cornerback Tim Burns Jr. as players commited to Miami for 2021. Brinson is the highest-ranked player currently commited to Miami for 2021.
Kinchens made his announcement via social media on Saturday. The
2021 Miami recruiting class is currently 12th nationally
after the commitment from Kinchens. The Hurricanes did not move up with Kinchens’ commitment, but they are now less than a point from Alabama for the 11th best recruiting class.
The 2021 Miami recruiting class is third in the ACC. Clemson is second nationally and the Hurricanes ACC Coastal Division rival North Carolina is third. North Carolina will be a force in the ACC during their second tenure with Mack Brown. The Tar Heels are building an exceptionally talented roster.
Kinchens is the first safety to commit to Miami in the 2021 recruiting class. The Hurricanes signed four safeties in 2020 including four-star Avantae Williams who was ranked second at the position by 247Sports. Miami will lose senior Amari Carter after the 2020 season and could lose juniors, Bubba Bolden and Gurvan Hall.
