In a press release issued by the conference on Monday, ACC Football Kickoff Media Days have been postponed indefinitely. Originally scheduled for July 21-23 the annual gathering of media, coaches and players that usually takes place in Charlotte was expected to be held virtually this year.

The ACC announced last week that all Olympic sports would not commence this fall until September 1. That does not affect football which is not scheduled to begin until September 5. The Miami football team is slated to start their season at home on September 5 against Temple.

Miami lost their September 26 game at Michigan State when the Big 10 announced on July 9 that they will be playing only conference games in 2020. The Pac 12 followed suit the next day. The ACC announced last week that they will come to a decision on what their 2020 schedule will be by the end of July.

Brett McMurphy of Stadium reported the expectation is that the ACC will follow the direction of the Big 10 and Pac 12 and play only conference games in 2020. The ACC currently plays eight games against conference opponents. The ACC could stay with the eight-game schedule to allow flexibility for cancelations.

The Big 10 plays nine games and could expand its schedule to 10 games this season. A nine or 10 game revised schedule go also be the route that the ACC wants to go. Miami currently plays six games against ACC Coastal Division opponents, their annual rivalry crossover game against Florida and at Wake Forest.

Several scenarios are possible for the 2020 season for Miami. Either Clemson, Notre Dame, or both could be added to the Hurricanes schedule. Notre Dame has six games scheduled against ACC teams in 2020 and would be expected to be included if the ACC plays only conference games even though they are not an ACC Football team.
