West Coast recruiting analyst Greg Biggins of 247Sports stated to watch out for the Miami football program flipping four-star quarterback Jake Garcia on their recruiting podcast earlier this month.

The Miami football program currently has the nation’s 12th ranked recruiting class according to the 247sports composite rankings. The one position the Hurricanes are missing in the current cycle is a quarterback. Four-star QB Jake Garcia from LaHabra, California has created a cult movement to bring the signal-caller to Coral Gables.

On the 247Sports National Recruiting podcast earlier this month, their West Coast recruiting analyst Greg Biggins said to watch out for Miami flipping Garcia. Garcia has been committed to USC since September 2019. Reports emerged this spring that the Trojans told Garcia they want to take two QBs in the Class of 2021.

Four-star QB Miller Moss who the Miami football program was recruiting at one point, committed to USC in May. Garcia told the USCFootball.Com that the Trojans football staff made him aware they were interested in signing two QBs in 2021. Garcia is the seventh-ranked QB overall in 2021 and Moss is ninth.

Garcia and Texas commit Jalen Milroe are the two QB prospects the Miami football program is reported to be after the most. The Hurricanes are going to have to have a good season (if there is one) to be able to flip either of them. Biggins summed up Garcia’s recruitment as transcribed by Andrew Ivins of Inside the U.

"“I hope not. I would love to see (Jake) stay at USC and see those two guys go at it. They are very familiar with each other, being not just from Southern California, but a similar region and have actually worked out together before. They are very familiar. I know when he committed to USC, that was the dream school. He basically got the jump on every other quarterback in the 2021 class. He got wind that Bryce Young was getting ready to decommit, and he actually silently committed and the day after Bryce went ahead and went public, he went ahead and went public with his commitment to USC,I would love to see him stay committed and those two go at it, but there is a lot of legs to the rumors and as far as the school I would say watch out for is Miami. I think there is some real interest, obviously on Miami’s end. They never stopped. That was the runner up.In fact I actually had a Crystal Ball in (for) Miami for Jake Garcia and then once I got wind that he was going to commit to USC I changed it, but Miami still has a lot to offer. Jake has visited two times, loved it both times. You know, there was some buzz for UCLA. Part of that was because he had a girlfriend who runs track there.I feel really weird, I don’t know a little Enquirer for even saying this, but they are no longer dating so UCLA is out. I don’t think he’s going to stick in L.A. if he does decommit. Watch out for Miami but I do think USC, right now, is where he’d like to be. He has some pretty strong roots with the Trojan program.”"

Another name to watch for Miami at quarterback is three-star Jay Allen who is committed to Florida for baseball. Allen wants to play both baseball and football in college and Florida already has two QBs commited for 2021. Allen competed at the Elite 11 earlier this month that Moss also participated in.

Elite 11 is the premiere QB camp every summer. Garcia and Milroe were not invited. Allen is more unfinished than other QBs as a multi-sport athlete. Allen has a lot of upside and has been compared to Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray was the ninth overall pick in the MLB draft and top pick in the NFL Draft.
