Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald was the first to report that the Miami football team resumed practicing on Friday after being shut down on Thursday following three positive Covid-19 tests.

After being shut down because of three reported positive Covid-19 tests on Thursday the Miami football team returned to practice on Friday as first reported by Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. As expected the three unnamed played who tested positive and those in close contact with those players did not return to practice.

The three infected players and those who came in contact with the infected players have been told to stay away from the remainder of the Hurricanes indefinitely. Miami as the rest of college football began mandatory workouts on Monday. The 2020 Miami football season is scheduled to begin September 5 against Temple.

The entire season and what it will look like this fall is very much in doubt. The Big 10 and Pac 12 announced last week that they will be playing only conference games. Outgoing ACC Commissioner John Swofford announced that the conference will make a decision on their schedule by the end of July.

Miami has already lost a non-conference game at Michigan State with the decision by the Big 10 to eliminate all of their non-conference schedule for 2020. Miami has three non-conference games remaining against Temple, Wagner and UAB. Those games are very much in doubt.

Miami is scheduled to play its annual games against ACC Coastal Division rivals and hosts Florida State. The Hurricanes non-annual cross-divisional game in 2020 is at Wake Forest. The Big 10 is expected to add a 10th conference game for 2020to its conventional nine-game schedule. The ACC plays eight conference games.

The ACC could expand its schedule to 10 games or add four more games to Notre Dame’s schedule. The Fighting Irish are scheduled to play six ACC schools this season. The ACC is expected to work with Notre Dame who is an ACC member in every sport with the exception of Football. Miami would be high on the list of opponents.
