Georgia defensive back Divaad Wilson who played high school football at Miami Northwestern could be interested in the Miami football program after entering his name in the transfer portal on Monday.

Georgia defensive back Divaad Wilson could be interested in the Miami football program with a return back home after the news was released on Monday that the former four-star defensive back wants to be closer to home. Wilson played in high school at Miami Northwestern. Five Bulls have commited to Miami for 2021.

Wilson was originally a Florida commit and signed with Georgia in the Class of 2018. Wilson chose Georgia over Miami, Alabama, Florida, Florida State an about two dozen other schools. Florida or Miami seems like the most likely destination for Wilson to transfer to. It depends on how close to home he wants to be.

In 2019 Wilson played in 13 of the 14 Georgia games recording 24 tackles, one interception and one pass breakup. Wilson started for Georgia in the star position against Notre Dame and Kentucky. Wilson had three tackles, an interception and pass breakup in the Bulldogs victory against the Fighting Irish.

Against the Wildcats and former Miami defensive backs coach Mark Stoops who is now the Wildcats head coach, Wilson had two tackles. The best game of Wilson’s career came in Georgia’s 28-21 loss to Texas in the 2019 Sugar Bowl with four tackles, a tackle for loss and a pass breakup.

Wilson missed the entire 2018 regular season with a torn ACL before returning for the Sugar Bowl. Once Wilson determines his next destination he will have to petition the NCAA for a waiver to be eligible in 2020. Wanting to return close to home because of the Covid-19 pandemic should work in Wilson’s favor for immediate eligibility.

Next. Miami prospects Sebastian Sagar committing Monday. dark

The only game Wilson missed during the 2019 season was ironically in the 2020 Sugar Bowl against Baylor for undisclosed reasons. There has been no indication which school Wilson is leaning towards. Miami is tight on scholarships. Keep an eye on Florida Atlantic and FIU for Wilson’s next destination.
