Four-star quarterback Jake Garcia

No one is exciting the fan base for the Miami football program in the Class of 2021 more than four-star California quarterback Jake Garcia. Garcia to the U and Jake Garcia to the U hashtags had the nation’s sixth-ranked QB trending on twitter last month following the commitment from Brinson.

The biggest position missing from the 2021 Miami recruiting class is a QB. Garcia is the signal-caller the Hurricanes are recruiting the most for 2021 despite the fact he is currently commited to USC. Garcia is continuing to talk to Miami offensive coordinator and QB coach Rhett Lashlee.

Earlier this month, 247Sports recruiting analyst Greg Biggins said to watch for Miami in the recruitment of Garcia. USC currently has Garcia and four-star QB Miller Moss commited for 2021. The belief is that should Garcia de-commit that Miami could become the favorite to add him.

The Miami football program has had a long history of QBs from California being successful. Among the signal-callers from the Golden State to thrive in South Florida are National Champion and Heisman Trophy winner Gino Torretta, National Champion Ken Dorsey and Miami all-time leading passer Brad Kaaya.

Miami will lose graduate transfer QB, D’Eriq King, following the 2020 season. N’Kosi Perry and Tate Martell will be redshirt seniors in 2021, Peyton Matocha a redshirt sophomore and 2020 true freshman Tyler VanDyke is expected to redshirt this fall. Perry and Martell could leave as graduate transfers after the 2020 season.
