Four-star safety

Corey Collier

After signing four safeties in the Class of 2021 and the Hurricanes commit from four-star safety Kamren Kinchens earlier this month Corey Collier would be more of luxury add to the 2021 Miami recruiting class than a position of need. Collier plays at Palmetto with Taylor and Collins. No current crystal balls are projected for Collier.

Collier is the 84th ranked player, third-ranked safety and 14th ranked player in Florida for 2021. Miami, Florida, Florida State, Georgia and LSU are Collier. Collier will announce his college choice four days after Taylor on August 10. Collier has been compared to former Miami safety Sheldrick Redwine.

If Miami can secure a commitment from Taylor that might put them in a good place with Collier and potentially hold on to Collins. Getting commitments from all three would solidity put the 2021 Miami recruiting class into the top five. Collier has the length Miami likes on their defense at 6’2.

He is going to have to fill out from 170 pounds. Collier seems to have played more zone in high school but is an intelligent defender with a lot of upside.

His 247Sports scouting report said “An intelligent defender with good ball skills that knows how to take the right angles. Seems to be more comfortable right now roaming the back end of the defense than he is in man coverage.”

Miami is also recruiting three-star Palmetto WR Breshard Smith and five-star CB Jason Marshall. Smith is crystal balled to Miami. Marshall named Miami one of his finalists this week but the Hurricanes are expected to be a long shot to sign him. Collier will be a player worth watching for Miami over the next three weeks.
