Four-star safety Corey Collier dropped a top three on Monday that included the Miami football program, Florida and LSU.

The Miami football program was named one of three finalists with Florida and LSU for four-star safety Corey Collier on Monday. Collier announced on Friday that he will be making his college destination known on August 10. A Florida State legacy, Collier’s announcement on Monday eliminated the Seminoles.

Cornelius Collier, the father of Corey played at Florida State under Bobby Bowden. Collier is part of the elite defense at Miami Palmetto that has three of the top 30 defensive players in the country in the Class of 2021. The Miami football program has a commitment from Collier’s teammate four-star defensive tackle Savion Collins.

Collins is eventually is expected to flip to Florida. Five-star Palmetto DT Leonard Taylor announced the Hurricanes in his top two with Florida earlier this month. Collier is the 84th ranked player, third-ranked safety and 14th ranked player in Florida for 2021. No recent 247Sports crystal balls indicate which way Collier could be leaning.

A commitment from Collier would move the 2021 Miami recruiting class from 12th to 11th nationally ahead of Texas. Adding Collier and Taylor would boost Miami to 10th ahead of Florida and less than a point behind Clemson for ninth. North Carolina currently has the top recruiting class in the ACC, third nationally.

Collier attended Junior Day for the Miami football program in January. Ephraim Banda was the first to offer Collier and the Hurricanes have kept in touch with him since his freshman season the safety told 247Sports. Collier has also visited Gainesville. Collier has been in touch with LSU frequently.

One of the primary contacts for the Tigers has been head coach Ed Orgeron. LSU is losing a lot in the secondary and the opportunity for immediate playing time is what has Collier interested in the Tigers. The Hurricanes have a commitment from four-star Miami Northwestern safety Kamren Kinchens for 2021.
