Kicker Andres Borregales and running back Thad Franklin announced earlier this week they are shutting down their recruitments and solidifying their commitments to the Miami football program for 2021.

The Miami football program solidified their 2021 recruiting class earlier this when commits kicker Andres Borregales and running back Thad Franklin shut down their recruitment and gave their unfaltering commitment to the Hurricanes. Borregales is the nation’s second-ranked kicker for 2021 and Franklin a four-star RB.

Borregales and Franklin were being recruited by Miami ACC rivals. North Carolina wanted the brother of 2020 Miami kicker Jose Borregales and Florida State was among the suitors for Franklin that also included a basketball scholarship from Penn State of the Big 10. Miami is currently 11th nationally in the 2021 recruiting cycle.

The hard commits from Borregales and Franklin continue a week of good news on the recruiting trail for the Miami football program. The Hurricanes received a commit from five-star athlete James Williams on Tuesday night. Williams is the highest-ranked player in the Miami Class of 2021.

Borregales deciding to stick with Miami gives the Hurricanes excellent kicking over the next five seasons with the beginning of a family legacy. Kicking for Chaminade-Madonna, Borregales made 13 of 18 field-goal attempts with a long of 57 yards. Borregales also averaged 40.2 yards punting.

Borregales’ high school teammate, Franklin ran for 2,282 yards and 28 touchdowns for the Florida Class 3A state champions. Franklin gives Miami what will be a deep RB corps through at least the 2022 season. The Hurricanes signed four-star RBs Don Chaney Jr and Jaylan Knighton in the Class of 2020.

Franklin gives the Hurricanes a bruising RB at 6’2 220 pounds to complement Chaney and Knighton who utilize their breakaway speed to punish opponents. Miami enters the 2020 season with junior Cam’Ron Harris who can leave for the 2021 NFL Draft and redshirt junior Robert Burns who adds depth and experience.

Franklin, Williams and four-star WRs Romello Brinson and Jacolby George are key commits to Miami after they had previously committed and de-committed from Miami during the 2021 recruiting cycle. Expect more commitments for the Hurricanes over the next five weeks.
