Steve Wiltfong the Director Of Recruiting for 247Sports logged a crystal ball for five-star defensive tackle Leonard Taylor towards the Miami football program on Monday.

Numerous reports in recent weeks have projected that five-star defensive tackle Leonard Taylor was leaning towards the Miami football program. On Monday, 247 Sports Director Of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong logged the first crystal ball for Taylor to the Hurricanes. Taylor would be the second five-star commit for Miami in 2021.

Miami has not had three five-star signees in the same class since 2008. Recruiting has changed drastically since then. Miami signed 32 players in 2008 accumulating the top recruiting class in the country. Teams have a cap of 25 players per class currently. Miami currently has the nation’s 10th ranked class in the country.

Taylor is the 27th ranked player, sixth-ranked DT and third-ranked player in Florida in the Class of 2021. Miami received a commitment from the top player in the Sunshine State last week, athlete James Williams who can play safety or linebacker. Taylor would be the third commit to Miami from Palmetto.

Four-star DT Savion Collins has been commited to the Hurricanes since September 2018. Three-star WR Brashard Smith commited to Miami from Palmetto on Sunday. Taylor will be announcing his college choice on August 6 via CBS HQ. A multitude of factors involving defensive line coach Todd Stroud have Taylor trending to Miami.

Wiltfong reported the way Miami is projecting Taylor to be used across their defensive line, the relationship with Stroud and the opportunity to come in and make an immediate impact are all elements that are being sold in his recruitment. Co-defensive coordinator Ephraim Banda has been long working on Taylor’s recruitment.

Wiltfong believes that the reasons stated above put Miami in the best position to receive a commitment from Taylor. Miami loses senior DT Jon Ford after the 2020 season. Junior DT Nesta Silvera has the option to enter the 2021 NFL Draft. Jordan Miller, Jared Harrison-Hunte and Jalar Holley are behind Ford and Silvera.
