In an interview posted by 247Sports on Monday, three-star wide receiver Jaden Alexis likes the Miami football staff and the potential of staying close to home.

Three-star speedy wide receiver Jaden Alexis who is favored to commit to Texas told 247 Sports Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong that he none of the schools he is considering stand out, that he likes the offensive staff that the Miami football program has hired and the ability to stay close to home.

Miami hired new offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee, wide receivers coach Rob Likens and offensive line coach Garin Justice in the offseason. Lashlee runs an uptempo, spread offense that has gotten the attention of the WRs in South Florida. Likens has had WRs chosen in the first round of the last two NFL Drafts.

Alexis is the 368 ranked player and 60th ranked WR and player in Florida in the 2021 recruiting cycle. The two crystal balls for Alexis have him projected to commit to Texas with a confidence level of seven. Miami cannot get commits from every player from South Florida and the Pompano Beach Monarch star is leaning to the Longhorns.

Alexis is known for his exceptional speed. The son of a former NFL running back Rich Alexis has been timed running 4.4 seconds in the 40-yard dash, 10.75 seconds 100 meters and 22.27 seconds in the 200 meters. Rich Alexis played on the Washington team that gave Miami their only loss in 2000.

"“I have a couple of great options…Not in any particular order, Rutgers Miami, Penn State, Kentucky, Texas…Miami, I like the offensive staff coming in and the staying close to home factor."

It appears from the above that Alexis told to Wiltfong he is carefully looking at his options for college before making a decision. The comments about the new Miami coaches on offense is encouraging for other recruits when they look at Miami. The Hurricanes’ new style should appear more to prospects in the modern era.

Alexis is more than his exceptional speed. The track level star has the ability and aggressiveness to run through tackles. Alexis was primarily a slot receiver as a junior but has the ability to become an outside receiver or begin in the backfield. Alexis is the ideal receiver in a spread offense who has to expand his route tree.
