Clemson Quarterback Trevor Lawrence

Without the schedule being released yet with when and where the Miami football team will play their 10 ACC games the order listed will be alphabetical.

Fittingly that puts Clemson first. The Tigers by far have the best roster in the ACC but when picking the most talented player they have is obviously QB Trevor Lawrence.

Lawrence led the Tigers to a dominant 44-16 victory over Alabama in the 2019 College Football Playoff National Championship Game and the 2018 National title.

Clemson lost 42-25 to LSU in the 2020 National Title Game. In two seasons with Lawrence as their QB, Clemson is 29-1.

The presumptive number one pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Lawrence has completed 65.5 percent of his passes for 6,945 yards, 66 touchdowns, 12 interceptions and run for another 740 yards and another 12 TDs.

Lawrence should be challenged against Miami’s pass rush. LSU harrassed Lawrence to complete just 18-37 for 234 yards without a TD or interception in the blowout loss. The 101.8 passer rating against LSU was the lowest of Lawrence’s collegiate career.

Miami was able to harass 2019 second-team All-ACC QB Bryce Perkins into 16-27 for 182 yards, one TD and no interceptions in 2019. The Hurricanes upset Virginia 17-9 at Hard Rock Stadium.  Miami held Perkins to 27 yards rushing on 17 carries and sacked him five times.

Greg Rousseau finished with seven tackles, two tackles for loss and one sack in the victory against the Cavaliers. Applying pressure against Lawrence will be critical for a chance at an upset.
