Louisville Wide Receiver Tutu Atwell

The Miami football team tore up Louisville 52-27 in 2019, but Cardinals wide receiver Tutu Atwell shredded Miami for six receptions for 142 yards and an 80-yard touchdown reception in the loss.

The former Miami Northwestern star returned home and made a statement. Atwell was electric for Louisville throughout 2019. At only 5’9, 150 pounds, Atwell uses his 4.33 speed in the 40 to burn opposing defensive backs.

Atwell used his speed on the TD against Miami in 2019 taking a screen pass the nearly the length of the field for the score. Atwell is particularly dangerous on screens. The junior in 2020, averaged 16.3 yards after the catch on screens in 2019.

Atwell was one of the most dangerous receivers in college football in 2019. During his sophomore season, Atwell recorded 69 receptions for 1,272 yards and 11 TDs and added nine carries for 33 yards rushing.

Atwell was seventh nationally in receiving yards, 12th in receiving TDs and 30th in yards per reception. Co-defensive coordinators Blake Baker and Ephraim Banda will have film from 2019 to watch to game plan for Atwell in 2020. That is not usually a luxury in a cross-divisional game.

Without divisions this year, that is a benefit the Miami football team will have against the Cardinals. The 2020 game will be in Louisville.
