The Miami football schedule along with the rest of the ACC schedule will be released by the conference Thursday at 9 AM.

The ACC had released opponents for the Miami football team and the rest of the conference last week. We know the Hurricanes have games at Clemson, Louisville, North Carolina State, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest and will host Florida State, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Pittsburgh and Virginia in 2020.

A report emerged on Wednesday afternoon via Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald that the one non-conference game for the Miami football program in 2020 will be against UAB. The Hurricanes and Blazers are scheduled to play September 17 at Hard Rock Stadium. We will know the exact date Thursday morning.

When announcing the teams each program will have scheduled for the 2020 season, the ACC stated that week one will start no earlier than September 7. That is Labor Day. Miami was scheduled to begin the 2020 season September 5 at Hard Rock Stadium against Temple. That game has seemingly been canceled for 2020.

If the UAB game remains September 17 or that weekend Miami will likely begin the 2020 season against an ACC opponent September 12 or a day or two before. Miami has not started the season against an ACC opponent since losing 31-13 at Louisville in 2014 in the Cardinals inaugural ACC game.

Miami has started the last two seasons with losses against Florida in 2019 and LSU in 2018. The Hurricanes lost their ACC opener in week two in 2019 at North Carolina. Miami will have a chance to redeem that loss at Hard Rock Stadium in 2020. The last ACC win to begin a season for Miami was in 2012 against Boston College.

It would not be surprising for Miami to begin the season at home against Florida State. It would make sure the rivalry game was played in 2020 and generate a lot of interest. The Hurricanes and Seminoles have frequently started seasons against each other. Miami last defeated FSU in the season opener 38-34 in 2009.
