Freshman cornerback Isaiah Dunson signed with the Miami football program as part of the class of 2020 and provides the Hurricanes with excellent length at 6’2.

Isaiah Dunson is a freshman cornerback for the Miami football program who brings excellent length to the Hurricanes at 6’2. A four-star signee from Tucker, Georgia, with the Hurricanes four deep in experience at CB, Dunson might get a chance to contribute in 2020.

Juniors Al Blades Jr. and D.J. Ivey and sophomores Christian Wiliams and Te’Cory Couch are in front of Dunson and fellow 2020 signee Marcus Clarke. Dunson was the 326th ranked player, 22nd ranked CB and 31st ranked player in Georgia in the Class of 2020. Dunson was the ninth highest-ranked signee in Miami’s 2020 class.

Dunson is ahead of Clarke as the highest-ranked of the two CBs who signed in the 2020 class and third highest ranked defensive back for Miami in 2020. The Hurricanes signed four safeties. Four-star signees Avantae Williams and Jalen Harrell are both ahead of Dunson. The 2020 class is exceptionally strong in the secondary.

Miami is not scheduled to lose any CBs following the 2020 season with Blades and Ivey entering their junior seasons. Both players have the option of entering the 2021 NFL Draft. With everything in question surrounding college football, it is nearly impossible to project who the Hurricanes CBs will be in 2021.

Dunson is higher rated than either of the two 2021 commits Miami has at CB. Three-stars, Tim Burns and athlete Malik Curtis who is listed as an athlete but projected to play CB in college. If Miami loses either Blades, Ivey, or both to the 2021 NFL Draft, the Hurricanes are going to likely have to add a CB to the 2021 class.

On the official Miami football roster, Dunson is listed at 6’1. He is one of four out of the six Miami scholarships CBs listed at 6’1. Head coach Manny Diaz, co-defensive coordinators Blake Baker and Ephraim Banda and CB coach Mike Rumph all like CBs with length. Dunson perfectly fits the mold of a Hurricanes corner.
