At Virginia Tech November 14

Other than the game at Clemson October 10, the Hurricanes trip to Blacksburg should be their second toughest on the 2020 schedule.

The road team has won the last two games between Miami and Virginia Tech. The Hurricanes had to rally from a 28-0 deficit in the first half in 2019.

Miami tied the score in the four-quarter and was poised to take the lead when former kicker Bubba Baxa missed the extra-point. The Hokies rallied behind QB Hendon Hooker who was making his first start.

Like Cunningham, Hooker is a dual-threat QB who opposing defenses have to account for. Hooker was 10-20 for 184 yards, three TDs and no interceptions and ran for 76 yards on 16 carries and another TD in leading Virginia Tech to a 42-35 victory over Miami at Hard Rock Stadium in 2019.

Hooker finished 2019 completing 61.1 percent of his passes for 1,555 with 13 TD and two interceptions. Hooker ran for another 356 yards and five TDs. Playing at Lane Stadium, Miami is going to have to do a better job containing Hooker in 2020.

Winning in Blacksburg would provide the Hurricanes with a huge tiebreaker in the road to Charlotte for the ACC Championship game. Miami and Virginia Tech will both contend in the ACC in 2020.
