Key 2021 Miami Hurricanes four-star quarterback prospect Jalen Milroe flipped his commitment from Texas to Alabama earlier this week.

Potential four-star 2021 Miami Hurricanes quarterback prospect Jalen Milroe has flipped his commitment from Texas to Alabama. The flip by Milroe came after the Longhorns received a commitment from the top-ranked QB for 2022 Quinn Ewers. Alabama signed the top 2020 QB, Bryce Young.

Young had a huge influence on the other QB Miami is recruiting heavily for 2021, current four-star USC commitment Jake Garcia. Garcia commited to the Trojans shortly after Young flipped from USC to Alabama. With Young battling with incumbent Alabama QB Mac Jones this fall, Milroe would likely redshirt in Tuscaloosa in 2021.

Miami will have an opening at QB in the 2021 season. As a true freshman, Milroe or Garcia would have a chance to compete to be the starting QB for the Miami football team in 2021. If Milroe signs with Alabama, the likelihood is that he would not have a chance to be the starting QB until 2023.

Young will almost definitely leave for the NFL Draft when he is first eligible in 2023. Milroe is the first 2021 QB commit for Alabama. Texas is now without a QB commit for 2021. Miami has yet to receive a commit at QB for 2021 in is what is otherwise the ninth-ranked class nationally. There have been reports Garcia could flip.

Even with Milroe currently commited to Alabama a lot can happen between now and National Signing Day in December. The Crimson Tide had former commit, Drake Maye, the brother of former North Carolina Basketball player Luke Maye, flip to the Tar Heels. Milroe is secure with the Crimson Tide as long as he’s their only commitment.

Next. Too soon for Miami to expect Jake Garcia to flip. dark

Milroe’s recruitment is far more difficult trying to get him to flip twice. As new offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee and head coach Manny Diaz look for a 2021 QB a lot will depend on how well the offense led by graduate transfer D’Eriq King performs in 2020. With a big season offensively Miami can flip a high profile QB.
