Five Miami Hurricanes with breakout performances in second scrimmage
Redshirt freshman defensive end Jahfari Harvey
Jahfari Harvey will be third in the rotation at DE behind Roche and redshirt junior Jaelan Phillips.
Despite an entirely new rotation of edge rushers in 2020, the Miami Hurricanes are expected to continue to be one of the best at pressuring the quarterback in college football.
Harvey had six tackles on Saturday. Harvey did not record any sacks and it was not reported how many pressures he had in the second scrimmage.
Co-defensive coordinator Blake Baker has praised Harvey in training camp as a freak athletically with the potential to make an impact on the edge in 2020.
The third DE in the Miami rotation in 2019 was graduate transfer Trevon Hill. Hill finished with 27 tackles. 9.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. Those are reasonable goals for Harvey in 2020 with the definite possibility of exceeding the numbers that Hill posted last season. Harvey is likely secure as the third DE in the Miami rotation.
He will have competition behind him from redshirt freshman Cameron Williams and true freshman Chantz Williams. Chantz Williams was the seventh-ranked weakside DE in the class of 2020. Harvey was the 12th ranked WDE in 2019. The future for Miami at edge rusher will continue to be bright beyond 2020.
