The Miami football team will hold its final scrimmage on Friday with a few questions remaining as head coach Manny Diaz and his staff get ready for the season opener against UAB on Thursday.

The final scrimmage for the Miami football team ahead of the 2020 season will be held on Friday.

The Hurricanes have several questions remaining before they kickoff the 2020 season Thursday against UAB. Head coach Manny Diaz said on Tuesday the depth chart will not be determined until the scrimmage is concluded.

The scrimmage on Friday will be the third Miami has had over the last month. Several players have made an impact in the first two scrimmages. There have been some surprises and other players who are challenging to become starters as Miami starts to solidify the depth chart.

Friday will be critical in multiple areas. The offensive line is the biggest question mark for Miami entering the 2020 season. Four of the five positions for Miami seem to be secure ahead of Friday’s scrimmage.

A player to track will be redshirt sophomore Ousman Traore has emerged as the favorite to start at left guard after playing two games in 2019. Other positions with challenges on the depth chart ahead of Friday are one starting position at linebacker, backup quarterback and who the starters will be in the secondary.

The inexperience at wide receiver behind senior Mike Harley and juniors Mark Pope and Dee Wiggins is another concern for 2020.

According to Diaz, Friday will be a situational scrimmage. Diaz said the decisions on the depth chart will be made through the weekend. The original question about the depth chart came after Diaz was asked who the backup QB will be. Anyone other than redshirt junior N’Kosi Perry would be a big surprise.
