Tight end Brevin Jordan only Miami football player first-team All-ACC

Junior tight end Brevin Jordan was surprisingly the only Miami football player named first-team All-ACC as released by the conference on Friday. Redshirt sophomore Greg Rousseau likely would have been named first-team All-ACC, but he opted out of the 2020 season last month. Jordan was first-team All-ACC in 2019.
Jordan was one of seven players on offense who were named first-team All-ACC in 2019 named to the preseason All-ACC team. Jordan had 35 receptions for 495 yards and two TDs in 11 games in 2019. A foot injury knocked Jordan out of the loss to FIU and cost him the final two games of the 2019 season.
Jordan missed one game as a freshman in 2018 when he had 32 receptions for 287 yards and four TDs. Entering the 2020 season, Jordan is likely to continue to be a vital part of the Miami offense led by new offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee. Lashlee frequently used TE Kylen Granson with SMU in 2019.
Granson had 43 receptions for 721 yards and nine TDs last season. The expectation for Jordan in 2020 is that he will exceeded those numbers. Without a true number one wide receiver, Jordan might become the go to for Miami quarterback D’Eriq King. Jordan was one of three players named first team All-ACC for Miami in 2019.
Rousseau earned first-team All-ACC as a redshirt freshman last season with 19.5 tackles for loss and 15.5 sacks. Linebacker Shaq Quarterman concluded his Miami career earning first-team All-ACC for the second year in a row. Graduate transfer Quincy Roche missing out on preseason All-ACC was surprising.
Carlos Basham of Wake Forest and Patrick Jones of Pittsburgh were named the first-team All-ACC DEs. Basham had 18 TFLs and 10 sacks for the Demon Deacons in 2019. Jones finished with 11.5 TFLs and eight sacks. Roche eclipsed Basham and Jones with 19 TFLs and 13 sacks for Temple last season.
If Roche can duplicate the numbers he had for the Owls in 2019 being named the American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year he will almost certainly be named first-team All ACC in 2020. Miami will begin their season September 10 against UAB at Hard Rock Stadium with an 8 PM kickoff time.
