The 2020 Miami football season is finally here as the Hurricanes host UAB Thursday night at Hard Rock Stadium.

The Miami football team opens the long-awaited 2020 season hosting UAB at Hard Rock Stadium on Thursday night. The Hurricanes can finally focus on playing a football game against 1-0 UAB in the season opener. UAB defeated Central Arkansas 45-35 in their first game of 2020 last week.

Miami cannot enter the game overlooking the Blazers. The Hurricanes enter the game Thursday night with a two-game losing streak against UAB Conference USA rivals FIU and Louisiana Tech. UAB is better than the Panthers and Bulldogs after winning the CUSA Western Division in 2019.

The focus for Miami will be on the new additions for 2020. Quarterback D’Eriq King, defensive end Quincy Roche and kicker Jose Borreagles are key transfers and offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee, wide receivers coach Rob Likens and offensive line coach Garin Justice are all new to Miami in 2020.

The new additions have created a lot of renewed enthusiasm for the Miami football team in 2020. A strong performance in the opener is needed for the Hurricanes to build a successful season. The eyes of college football will be on Hard Rock Stadium on Thursday night as Miami is the first Power Five team to play in 2020.

Miami and UAB are playing for the first time. The Blazers returned in 2017 after a two-year hiatus. Bill Clark began his tenure as the head coach of the Blazers in 2014 and stayed on through the two-season break. Clark has done an outstanding job guiding UAB to a 29-13 record since they returned.
