Miami football in ABC Primetime second straight week vs. FSU
The Miami football team will be the ABC Primetime Game of the Week for the second straight game when they host Florida State September 26.
The ACC announced game times on Monday for September 26. The Florida State at Miami football game will be the ABC Primetime Game of the Week. The Hurricanes’ appearance in the ABC showcase game will be the second in a row for Miami. Louisville and Miami will appear in the ABC Primetime game this Saturday.
The Miami football game at Louisville will also be featured on College Football Gameday. The iconic college football program show will telecast live from Louisville on Saturday morning. Miami and Florida State could potentially be the College Gameday location. Florida State has a bye week after losing its season opener.
Florida State will enter the Miami game 0-1 after its 16-13 loss to Georgia Tech Saturday. Without the Big 10 and Pac 12, the potential sites for College GameDay for September 26 are slim. There are three games a week from Saturday matching current top 25 teams. In the ACC, number 18 Louisville is at number 25 Pittsburgh.
Number 22 Army is at number 13 Cincinnati and number 23 Kentucky is at number eight Auburn. In a normal season, Army, Pittsburgh and Kentucky would currently be unranked teams with where they are ranked now. It does give the Gameday crew a chance to go to new locations.
Miami has hosted college gameday for a Hurricanes game seven times. Their 2017 game against Notre Dame was the first day College Gameday broadcasted live from Coral Gables. The was also the second consecutive week Miami appeared on the ABC Primetime Game of the Week. Both games were at Hard Rock Stadium.
Miami will bring a three-game winning streak into the game against Florida State. After winning tight games in 2017 and 2018, Miami dominated the Seminoles in 2019. Led by redshirt freshman Greg Rousseau was tallied four sacks, the Hurricanes recorded nine sacks of Florida State QBs in a 27-10 victory.
Rousseau opted out for the 2020 season, but Miami has graduate transfer and 2019 All-American Quincy Roche and the top recruit in the nation in 2017, redshirt junior Jaelan Phillips. Against one of the worst offensive lines in the country, Miami should continue to live in the Florida State backfield.
The Seminoles had one of the worst offensive lines in college football last season. Florida State allowed 48 sacks in 2019. That was 126th out of 130 teams in FBS. The Seminoles allowed six tackles for loss and three sacks against Georgia Tech on Saturday. Miami has to focus on Louisville first.
The Hurricanes face a tough Louisville team in a battle of ranked teams. Miami and Louisville is the first Hurricanes game with a pair of ranked teams since the 2018 season-opening 33-17 loss to number 25 LSU. A Miami win at Louisville will get the attention of ESPN and give the Hurricanes a good chance to host Gameday.
