Miami football and South Florida about to start memorable two weeks of sports
The Miami football team and three of the four professional teams in South Florida are about to begin a memorable two weeks of sports.
The Miami football team will play Florida State and Clemson in the next three weekends with a bye in between. The Miami Heat are one win away from an amazing run to the NBA Finals and the Miami Marlins are on the verge of an improbable playoff berth. The next few weeks should be memorable for South Florida.
The Miami Dolphins 0-2 start might mean that star rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is on the verge of making his NFL debut. The Miami football team began their season in between the Heat winning their Eastern Conference semifinal series against the Milwaukee Bucks in five-game and the start of the Eastern Conference finals.
Led by offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee, the Miami Hurricanes football team has gotten off to an exciting 2-0 start. The offense has improved greatly in just two games under Lashlee. Miami has one of the most explosive offenses in college football. Miami has the 15th ranked offense in college football.
The Marlins currently hold a half-game lead over the Philadelphia Phillies for second place in the National League East which would guarantee them a playoff spot. The Cincinnati Reds and San Francisco are a half-game in front of the Marlins for the top wild-card spots in the National League.
The Marlins have a magic number of three. Any combination of Marlins wins and Phillies losses equalling three over the last four days of the Major League Baseball season will clinch a playoff spot. The Marlins finish a four-game series in Atlanta on Thursday night followed by a three-game series at the Yankees Friday-Sunday.
Philadelphia is off Thursday night before ending the season with a three-game series against the AL East Champion Tampa Bay Rays. The Marlins would begin the playoffs on Wednesday in a three-game series on the road to be determined. The Malins have won the World Series in their only postseason appearances in 1997 and 2003.

The Miami football team games against Louisville last week and Florida State Saturday have received national attention. ESPN College Gameday and the ABC College Football Primetime Game of the Week included Miami against Louisville and will again be featured by ESPN and ABC on Saturday against Florida State.
With a win, Miami can practically guarantee that it will be three straight games featured by partner networks ABC and ESPN for the Hurricanes game at Clemson on October 10.
The Miami game at Clemson is gearing up to be the biggest for the Hurricanes since they defeated Notre Dame 41-8 at Hard Rock Stadium in 2017.
The Heat will play game five against the Boston Celtics on Friday with a chance to earn their first trip to the NBA Finals since 2014. Looming could be LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. James helped lead the Heat to four straight NBA finals from 2011-14 in his four years on the Heat.
The NBA finals will begin on Wednesday, which is the same day the National League begins the playoffs and will be game two for the four American League series. The NBA finals would continue through October 13 if the series goes all seven games. The Heat and Marlins could be in the playoffs while the Hurricanes play Clemson.
The Dolphins host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night before playing the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers the following two weeks. Giving Tagaovailioa his NFL debut would be better against Jacksonville than the elite 49ers defense and experienced Seahawks defense. It will be a wild two weeks in Miami.
