The Miami football team has made a statement through their first three games of the 2020 season. The Hurricanes are relevant nationally this season.

With a 3-0 start and three national television appearances, the Miami football team has silenced their critics about not being relevant. The Hurricanes have gotten off to a sensational start to the 2020 season led by an explosive offense and opportunistic defense. Big wins the last two weeks have captured the attention of college football.

Miami began the season with an impressive 31-14 victory over UAB. The Hurricanes ran for 337 yards and kept the gameplan simple. A week later Miami made its season debut on ESPN College Gameday and the ABC Primetime College Football Game of the Week in a 47-34 victory over Louisville.

Quarterback D’Eriq King threw for 325 yards and three touchdowns as the Miami offense showed it was more than their ground game in the season opener. The Hurricanes had two 75-yard TDs and added 160 yards rushing in a game that was not as close as the final score. The win over Louisville put Miami in the national spotlight.

The Hurricanes victory over Louisville brought ESPN Gameday and the ABC Primetime Game to Hard Rock Stadium for the game against Florida State on Saturday. Gameday discussed the Miami football team extensively and featured King on Saturday morning. The Hurricanes were praised throughout the game telecast.

After seeing Miami play two weeks in a row, Herbstreit has the Hurricanes in the top four of college football teams currently playing. Miami will make its third consecutive ABC Primetime Game of the Week appearance against Clemson October 10, following a bye this week.

Expect Gameday to be announced as heading to Clemson late on Saturday night. The Tigers play Virginia on Saturday night. Clemson enters the game with UVA 2-0. An expected win over the Cavaliers would set up a pair of 3-0 teams in Death Valley. That would set up the biggest game for Miami since the 2017 ACC Championship Game.

Seventh-ranked, 10-1 Miami lost that game to 11-1, number one Clemson. The Tigers are currently the top-ranked team in the AP Media Poll and the USA Today’s Coaches Poll. Miami could move up a spot or two in the rankings this week depending on what happens this weekend. The game is likely to be Miami’s biggest since 2017.
