Miami football versus Pitt noon Oct 17 ABC or ACC network

The Miami football game against Pittsburgh October 17 at Hard Rock Stadium will kickoff at noon on ABC or the ACC Network the ACC announced on Monday.

After playing at Clemson Saturday night the Miami football team will host Pittsburgh at noon October 17 as announced by the ACC on Monday morning. The game will be broadcast by the ABC or the ACC network. The ACC announced on Monday the “network designation (for October 17) after the games of Oct. 10.”

The announcement that Miami will host Pittsburgh at noon October 17 will end a three-game stretch of Miami appearing in the ABC Primetime College Football Game of the Week. It will also likely end the three-game streak for Miami being the featured game of the day on ESPN College Gameday.

The noon kickoff does not diminish the importance of hosting Pittsburgh. The Panthers were ranked 24th nationally before being upset at home by North Carolina State on Saturday. Pittsburgh has one of the best defenses in college football. The Panthers are 11th nationally in scoring defense allowing 15 points per game.

The Miami offense will be challenged to move the ball against the nation’s number two defense in yards allowed. Pittsburgh is giving up only 232.3 yards per game. The Panthers have the nation’s best defensive line. Pittsburgh is second nationally with 39 tackles for loss and first with 19 sacks.

Miami and Pittsburgh will be playing for the 40th time. The Hurricanes have played the Panthers the most of any out of state opponent. The last three games between Miami and Pittsburgh have been low scoring. Miami won 16-12 in 2019 and 24-3 in 2018. Pittsburgh upset number two Miami 24-14 in 2017.

Pittsburgh’s is 32nd this season in points per game and total offense. The Miami and Pittsburgh defenses are pretty evenly matched. Miami will have a big advantage on offense. At home, the better offense should help the Hurricanes. Miami will need to come into the game focused after a difficult game with Clemson.
