The scholarship offer by USC to Jaxson Dart as their third quarterback for the Class of 2021 could push Miami football prospect Jake Garcia to re-consider his commitment to the Trojans.

USC offering a scholarship to fast-rising four-star quarterback Jaxson Dart from Draper, Utah could affect the pursuit of four-star Jake Garcia by the Miami football program. Dart received the scholarship offer from USC with the Trojans currently holding commitments from Garcia and four-star signal-caller Miller Moss.

Garcia is via most reports the most highly sought after QB for the 2021 Miami recruiting class. The Miami football program has the 12th ranked recruiting class in the 2021 cycle, but have yet to receive a commitment at QB. Garcia attended Paradise Camp during the summer of 2019 and made one other trip to Coral Gables.

Dart is one of the fastest rising players in the Class of 2021. It would be difficult to see USC signing three QBs in the same class. That could mean that the Trojans are not confident in the commitments of Garcia, Moss, or both. USCFootball.Com mentioned in an article on Dart his scholarship offer is linked to Garcia wavering.

The parent site of USCFootball.Com is 247Sports.Com. The offer to Dart by USC surprised 247. The commitments held by USC from Garcia and Moss made it surprising that the Trojans would be seeking out another QB for 2021. Garcia has been committed for over a year and Moss committed to USC in May.

"“It certainly qualified as one of the most eyebrow-raising developments of the current recruiting cycle. The Trojans have had pledges from four-star Jake Garcia since September of 2019 and four-star Miller Moss since this past June.”"

Dart is one of the fastest rising players in the Class of 2021. The current rankings for Dart in the 247Sports composite rankings are the 298th ranked player overall and the 16th ranked Pro-Style QB. Garcia is 39th and fourth and Moss is 62nd and seventh. Dart also has offers from Iowa State, BYU, UCLA, TCU and Arizona State.

Some of the assumptions are that the offer to Dart by USC was linked to Garcia. Per 247 most of the offers to Dart have come since September. Dart has thrown for 3,345 yards, completed 67.8 percent of his passes with 48 TDs and two interceptions this season in 10 games. The numbers are substantial compared to his first three seasons.

The recruitments of Dart and Garcia will be worth watching. With Dart rising so quickly he would be a good prospect for Miami to reach out to. The Hurricanes by all reports have continued to recruit Garcia. Miami could choose to sign a QB through the transfer portal again and D’Eriq King has the option of returning for 2021.
