The Miami football team dropped one spot in the AP Top 25 and the USA Today Coaches poll following its 19-14 victory over Virginia on Saturday.
The combination of a sluggish 19-14 victory over Virginia and the return of the Big 10 dropped the Miami football team from 11th to 12th in the AP Top 25 and USA Today Coaches Poll released on Sunday. Miami will have a week off before play at North Carolina State on November 5. Miami is the third highest-ranked team in the ACC.
Clemson is first and Notre Dame fourth. Number 13 North Carolina is the only other ranked team in the ACC. Miami hosts North Carolina on December 5. Miami and North Carolina are currently tied for third in the ACC with 4-1 records. Clemson leads the ACC at 5-0 and Notre Dame is 4-0. Miami does not play Notre Dame.
Miami received 911 points in the USA Today Coaches Poll. That was 17 less than Wisconsin received. The Badgers moved up three spots to 11th following a 45-7 win over Illinois. Wisconsin plays at Nebraska on Saturday. The Cornhuskers lost 52-17 at number five Ohio State on Saturday.
Miami received 888 points in the AP Top 25. BYU is 11th with 906 points. Clemson and Notre Dame are first and fourth in the AP Poll to match their spots in the Coaches Poll. North Carolina is the only other ACC team in the AP Poll, ranked 15th.
North Carolina is the only remaining ranked team on the Miami schedule. Games the next two weeks at North Carolina State and Virginia Tech will be challenging. The Hurricanes host Georgia Tech and play at Wake Forest the following two weeks before North Carolina visits Hard Rock Stadium.
Virginia Tech dropped out of the rankings after a 23-16 loss at Wake Forest on Saturday. The Hokies have battled with multiple Covid-19 tests all season. Virginia Tech is 3-2 overall and in the ACC. If Miami keeps winning a spot in the ACC Championship game should be awaiting at the end of the season.
