The five remaining teams scheduled to play the Miami Hurricanes this season allow more yards but fewer points than opponents during the 5-1 start to 2020.

The six Miami Hurricanes opponents during their 5-1 start allow a cumulative average of 31.40 points per game and 397.1 total yards per game in 2020. The five opponents remaining on the Miami schedule allow 25.45 PPG and 438.24 total yards per game cumulatively. It’s an odd dichotomy.

The first six Miami opponents combined would rank 11th in the ACC in scoring defense. The Hurricanes final five opponents would rank seventh in the ACC in scoring defense. Miami should be able to move the better easier against the remaining opponents on its schedule but find it tougher to score.

That will place more importance on the outlier stats like third down and red zone conversions. Having kicker Jose Borregales this season could be critical in the remaining five games this season. Miami is averaging 413.17 total yards per game which are 48.87 more than the average that their opponents allow this season.

The Hurricanes offense will have to elevate their play on offense to match the total yards allowed remaining opponents allow per game. Miami is seventh in the ACC in total offense. The first six opponents on the Miami Hurricanes 2020 schedule would rank eighth in the ACC in total defense.

The remaining five opponents would rank 10th in the ACC in total defense. The teams Miami has defeated this season allow 139.48 rushing yards per game cumulatively. The remaining five teams on the Miami Hurricanes schedule allow 180.89 rushing yards per game.

Miami is ninth in the ACC in rushing offense and in rushing yards per carry. The Hurricanes’ first six opponents would rank sixth in the ACC rush defense allowing a cumulative average of 139.48 yards per game. The remaining Miami opponents would rank ninth in the ACC against the run.

The upcoming Miami opponents allow 257.36 rushing yards per game. Miami is averaging 169.50 rushing yards per game this season which cumulatively is 30.02 more than what their opponents allow. After rushing for 337 yards against UAB in the season opener, Miami has run for only 320 yards in its last three games.

Against the pass, the six opponents Miami has played this season allow 219.28 yards per game cumulatively. The opponents Miami have defeated would rank fourth in the ACC in pass defense. The upcoming opponents on the Miami Hurricanes schedule allow an average of 257.36 passing yards per game.

Next. Miami offense outperforming and outgaining more than opponents allow. dark

The upcoming pass defenses Miami will play would rank 12th in the ACC. Miami should be able to move the ball against their opponents. Miami quarterback D’Eriq King has to be the catalyst for the Hurricanes offense in their last five games. The Hurricanes will begin the second half of 2020 at North Carolina State.
