Miami Hurricanes quarterback D’Eriq King has a chance for a big night running as the North Carolina State defense has been susceptible versus mobile QBs.

Miami Hurricanes quarterback D’Eriq King is third in the ACC at his position with 301 rushing yards this season. King has a chance for a big night rushing on Friday against North Carolina State. The Wolfpack has allowed 217rushing yards on 74 carries this season to QBs. That includes 19 sacks for 103 yards lost.

Take out the sack numbers and QBs have run for 320 yards on 55 carries for an average of 5.81 yards per carry against N.C. State. Virginia Tech QBs Quincy Patterson and Braxton Burmeister combined for 93 yards rushing on 19 carries, Kenny Pickett of Pittsburgh ran for 40 on 15 carries and Chase Brice of Duke had 14-86.

King has reached the 36.1 yards that NC State allows to QB running three times this season. In his Miami debut, King ran for 83 yards on 12 carries and a TD against UAB. King ran for 65 yards on eight carries against Florida State. Versus Clemson, King was the Hurricanes best offense with 14 carries for 84 yards

Overall, North Carolina State is 10th in the ACC allowing 182 rushing yards per game. The Wolfpack is eighth in the ACC allowing an average of 4.33 yards per carry. Miami is eighth in the ACC in rushing offense averaging 169.5 yards per game and with 4.35 yards per carry.

The three best games for King on the ground came against the second and 15th-best defenses in the ACC in rushing yards per carry in Clemson and Florida State. Clemson allows 2.74 rushing yards per carry, Florida State 5.61. Clemson is third in the ACC in rushing yards allowed per game and Florida State 14th.

King and the Miami offense is poised for a big night rushing if the can duplicate what most of the North Carolina State opponents have rushed for this season. The Wolfpack has allowed over 300 rushing yards in a game twice this season. Virginia Tech ran for 314 and North Carolina 326 in NC State’s last game.

If King and the Miami can run like many of the North Carolina State opponents have this season, the Hurricanes should be in for a big night in Raleigh. Miami has proven this season to take what opposing defenses have given them. The Hurricanes ran for 337 yards in the 31-14 season-opening victory over UAB.
