Miami Basketball schedule released highlighted by home-and-home vs. FSU, UNC

The 2020-21 Miami basketball schedule will be highlighted by home-and-homes against Florida State and North Carolina and a visit from Duke as announced by the ACC on Thursday.

A rebuilding Miami basketball program will open its season on November 25 against Stetson and will play Florida State, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Virginia Tech in Coral Gables and on the road. Miami will play five non-conference home games against North Florida, Florida Gulf Coast, Purdue and Jacksonville, plus Stetson.

Miami is continuing to rebuild following a 15-16, 2019-20 season which was their second straight year with a losing record. Leading scorer Chris Lykes and backcourt mate Kameron McGusty return for Miami. Sophomore guard Harlond Beverly and Isaiah Wong also return to give the Hurricanes great depth on the perimeter.

Freshmen Earl Timberlake and Matt Cross give Miami size on the perimeter and head coach Jim Larranaga the versatility to play big or small. Centers Nysier Brooks a transfer from Cincinnati and senior Rodney Miller will man the post backed up by Deng Gak with sophomore Anthony Walker available at both forward positions.

Following Stetson, North Florida visits Miami on November 29, Purdue comes to Coral Gables for the ACC-Big 10 Challenge on December 8 with Florida Gulf Coast and Jacksonville closing out non-conference play December 12 and 19. Miami hosts Pittsburgh on December 16 in between playing the Eagles and Dolphins.

Miami has six games scheduled against four teams in the AP Top 25. The Hurricanes host Duke on February 1, play at Virginia on March 1 or 2 and have the home-and-homes with Florida State and North Carolina. The Hurricanes play in Tallahassee on January 26 or 27 and in Coral Gables on February 23 or 24.

Miami and North Carolina will play on January 5 or 6 in Coral Gables and February 8 in Coral Gables. The Hurricanes play their first six games of the 2020-21 season at home before traveling to Blacksburg to play Virginia Tech on December 29 or 30. The Hurricanes return home for Clemson and UNC.

Miami has a tough stretch at the end of January and beginning of February with five out of six games on the road. The Hurricanes have only three home games in February. In addition to Duke and Florida State, the Hurricanes will host Georgia Tech in February. Miami finished the season against Boston College March 5 or 6.
