The Miami football team is on pace to break their program record of seven ACC wins.

The 2017 Miami football team set the program record with seven wins in the ACC. Miami went 7-1 that season and earned the program’s only outright ACC Coastal Division Championship and their only appearance in the conference title games. The 2020 Hurricanes have started 6-1 in the ACC with three games remaining.

Miami is scheduled to play at Wake Forest on December 5 and host North Carolina on December 12 and Georgia Tech on December 19. The Hurricanes are currently tied for second in the ACC with Clemson. Clemson owns the tiebreaker with a victory 42-17 over Miami last month. Notre Dame leads the ACC with a 7-0 conference record.

The ACC plays eight conference games in a normal season. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic this season the ACC is playing 10 conference games. Miami is scheduled to play Georgia Tech on the same day the ACC Championship game is scheduled. The Hurricanes need Clemson to lose once or Notre Dame twice to make the title game.

Miami began the 2020 season with a non-conference victory over UAB. The Hurricanes earned a victory at Louisville and a home win over Florida State before the loss at Clemson. Miami has four its last four before going on hiatus two weeks ago. Miami defeated over Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, North Carolina State and Virginia Tech.

The 2017 Miami team was the only one in program history to win seven ACC games in one season, but the 1994 and 2000-2002 Miami teams won seven Big East Games. Those four seasons all resulted in Big East Titles. In their 13 years in the Big East, Miami won nine conference titles and two National Championships.

With two more victories in the 2020 regular season, the Miami football team will reach ACC wins and finish no worse than 9-2. Three more victories overall this season and Miami can match the 2017 Hurricanes as the only ones with 10 victory seasons since Miami joined the ACC. There is a lot to be thankful for in the 2020 season.
