The Miami football had their schedule revised at will kickoff at Duke on Saturday night instead of the previously scheduled game at Wake Forest.

The Miami football team will take a detour from Winston-Salem to Durham on Saturday night to play Duke instead of their previously scheduled game at Wake Forest. Wake Forest is unable to play due to a COVID-19 outbreak. Miami has been off since November 14 due to their own COVID outbreak.

Duke has surprisingly won the last two games against Miami. The losses to the Blue Devils in each of the last two seasons were disappointing outcomes in subpar seasons. Miami went 13-13 combined in the 2018 and 2019 seasons. The Hurricanes have had a bounceback 7-1 season in 2020.

The only loss Miami has this year is to number three Clemson. Miami won a pair of tight games the last two times out. The Hurricanes won at North Carolina State 44-41 on November 6 and 26-25 at Virginia Tech on November 14. Duke enters the game with Miami 2-7. The Blue Devils have wins over Charlotte and Syracuse.

Charlotte is 2-3 this season and Syracuse 1-8. Duke is 1-7 in the ACC, a half-game in front of Syracuse to stay out of 15th and last place. Syracuse is one of three teams in the ACC Miami will not play this season. The Hurricanes will not have the game re-scheduled against Wake Forest and also do not play Boston College.

Miami has won nine of 12 meetings against Duke with David Cutliffe as the Blue Devils head coach. The Hurricanes have a 13-4 record against Duke all-time. All but two of the meetings between Duke and Miami have been in the ACC. The teams split the first two meetings with each winning on the road in 1976 and 1983.

Miami will be playing in its seventh primetime game this season and third on the ACC Network. The ACC Network lead announcing team of Dave O’Brien, former Boston College quarterback Tim Hasselbeck and Katie George on the sidelines will announce the game. Miami has appeared three times on the ABC Saturday Primetime Game.

Miami is still in the running for the ACC Championship Game. The Hurricanes need an upset by Virginia Tech over Clemson on Saturday and to win against Duke and North Carolina next week. If Miami does not make the ACC Championship Game, the Hurricanes will play December 19 at home against Georgia Tech.

The ACC canceled the games for Clemson and Notre Dame on December 12. Clemson, Miami and Notre Dame will have played an equitable nine-game conference schedule through the games next weekend. Without the cancelations of the Clemson and Notre Dame games on December 12, they would have had 10 ACC games played.

Miami has its ninth ACC game this season scheduled on December 12 that would have put the Hurricanes at a disadvantage in the number of games played in 2020. The Miami football game against Georgia Tech will count in the ACC Standings but is more like an extra game in 2020 than a regular-season game.
