Four-star defensive tackle Savion Collins de-committed from the Miami football program on Wednesday and cornerback target Markevious Brown announced his decision will be made public on early National Signing Day December 16.

What has been suspected for a long time, 2021 four-star defensive tackle Savion Collins de-committed from the Miami Football program on Wednesday. Collins had been committed to Miami since September 2018 when Mark Richt was still the head coach. The loss of Collins opens up another spot in the 2021 Miami class.

The loss of Collins as a commitment to their 2021 recruiting class drops Miami to 13th nationally. Miami had moved up earlier this week to 12th after Tennessee lost two commits from their 2021 recruiting class. North Carolina passed Miami to move up to 12th and second in the ACC for 2021 behind Clemson.

The early expectations were that Collins was going to flip to Florida. Andrew Ivins of Inside the U reported on Wednesday that Collins has not been connected to the Gators for at least six months. Miami currently has five-star DT Leonard Taylor and three-star DT Allan Haye committed for 2021 as interior linemen.

There have been some reports that Haye could flip to another school on early National Signing Day on December 16. Taylor is the number three overall recruit in 2021. Miami is also one of the finalists for five-star DT Maason Smith who told 247 earlier this week that he fits best in the Miami defensive scheme.

Four-star cornerback Markevious Brown, who the Miami football program is strongly after, also posted an update via Twitter on Wednesday. Brown posted that he will announce his college destination on Early National Signing Day. Brown hashtagged his post to Arkansas, Mississippi, Auburn, Virginia Tech and Miami.

Mississippi is considered the favorite for Brown, but there are only two crystal balls for him. Miami only currently has three-star athlete Malik Curtis projected as a CB in the 2021 Miami recruiting class. Miami needs to add depth at CB with only five scholarship players currently on the roster.

Juniors Al Blades Jr and D.J. Ivey have the option of entering the 2021 NFL Draft. Miami also has sophomore Te’Cory Couch and freshmen Marcus Clarke and Isaiah Dunson. The Hurricanes lost sophomore Christian Williams to the transfer portal earlier this season and three-star 2021 CB Tim Burns de-committed.
