The Miami football program is trending for four-star quarterback Jake Garcia following his de-commitment from USC late on Thursday night.

The Miami football program is receiving multiple crystal balls from 247 Sports for four-star quarterback Jake Garcia following his de-commitment from USC on Thursday night. Several national, regional and team specific recruiting analysts now expect Garcia to sign with Miami on Early National Signing Day on Deccember 16.

National Recruiting Analyst Greg Biggins of 247 Sports was the first to crystal ball Garcia to Miami on Thursday night followed by Director of Football Recruiting Steve Wiltfong, National Recruiting Editor Brandon Huffman, Mountain Region Recruiting expert Blair Angullo and Notre Dame Insider Tom Loy.

Garcia initially committed to USC in September 2019. The California native committed to the Trojans following the flip of current Alabama freshman QB Bryce Young. There has been a lot of speculation that Garcia would eventually flip to Miami. Four-star QB Miller Moss committed to USC in May.

The Trojans have also been after four-star QB Jaxson Dart. With two and potentially three QBs commited to USC Garcia would have had a lot of competition with the Trojans. Garcia has visited Miami at least twice including Paradise Camp during the summer of 2019.

Garcia previously visited Miami under the previous offensive staff led by then coordinator Dan Enos. Rhett Lashlee who was hired to replace Enos in January has been in touch with Garcia. Miami is now the prohibitive favorite to sign Garcia.  Graduate transfer D’Eriq King will have a decision to make after the season.

King has the option or returning for an extra season or entering the NFL Draft. Miami also has redshirt junior N’Kosi Perry, redshirt freshman Peyton Matocha and true freshman Tyler VanDyke on their roster looking forward to 2021. Perry could graduate and decide to transfer to a school where he has a better chance of starting.

If King does not return the battle would likely come down to another potential graduate transfer at QB, Perry is he decides to return, VanDyke and Garcia. Whoever is under center in the 2021 opener will face a daunting task against Alabama.

The addition of Garcia to the 2021 Miami recruiting class would be a huge boost. Miami fell to 13th following the de-committment from four-star defensive tackle Savion Collins on Wednesday night. If Miami can sign Garcia, the Hurricanes will jump all the way up to eighth in between Florida and Notre Dame.
