Miami Hurricanes QB prospect Jake Garcia will announce at 6:30 ET Wednesday

Miami Hurricanes quarterback prospects Jake Garcia will make his college destination known at 6:30 PM eastern time on Wednesday Early National Signing Day.

The most anticipated potential Miami Hurricanes 2021 signee four-star quarterback Jake Garcia will make his college destination known during Early National Signing Day on Wednesday. Garcia is the 46th ranked player, fifth-ranked pro-style QB and fifth-ranked player in Georgia in the Class of 2021.

Garcia de-committed from USC earlier this month. The main competition for Miami to sign Garcia are reportedly Arkansas and Florida State. Miami is considered the overwhelming favorite to sign Garcia. Garcia would be the only QB in the 2021 Miami signing class. The Hurricanes signed four-star QB Tyler VanDyke in 2020.

Graduate transfer QB D’Eriq King is still considering if he will return for the 2021 season. King has the option to play a sixth reason of college football with the extra year granted to all fall sports athletes. Miami has redshirt junior N’Kosi Perry, redshirt freshman Peyton Matocha and VanDyke behind King at QB.

If King decides to leave for the NFL the likelihood is that Miami will try to sign another QB through the transfer portal. Perry could decide to transfer after graduating. The potential 2021 addition Miami makes through the transfer portal at QB would take over in 2021 and Garcia and VanDyke would compete to start in 2022.

Garcia visited Miami with his mother over the weekend according to Inside the U. Garcia is playing this season at Grayson high school outside Atlanta. He transferred to Grayson from Valdosta in Southern Georgia after moving there from California who canceled their fall high school football season.

Garcia is expected to enroll early in January. Official visits have not been allowed since March. Garcia participated in Paradise Camp during the Summer of 2019 and later visited with his father to throw for former offensive coordinator Dan Enos. Garcia will be one of the last Miami recruits to sign on Wednesday.
