Four-star wide receiver Romello Brinson gives the Miami football program much-needed size on the outside in the Class of 2021.

Four-star wide receiver Romello Brinson is the highest-rated signee on offense for the Miami football program in the Class of 2021. Brinson is the 139th ranked player, 25th ranked wide receiver and 21st player in Florida for 2021. Brinson will provide Miami with size outside at WR at 6’2 180 pounds.

Brinson will still have to fill out his slight frame. Most of the Miami WR corps should return in 2021. Senior Mike Harley will have a decision to make with the NCAA granting all fall sports athletes an extra season of eligibility. Harley leads Miami with career highs of 49 receptions for 730 yards and six receiving touchdowns.

Junior WRs Mark Pope and Dee Wiggins also have the option of entering the 2021 NFL Draft. Brinson is one of three Miami WR signees in 2021. Four-stars Jacolby George and Breshard Smith do not provide the size that Brinson does. George is 5’11” and a slight 161 pounds, Smith 5’8.5″ 190.

Brinson has 43 receptions for 834 yards and eight TDs for Miami Northwestern this season according to MaxPreps. Brinson has also been adept as a blocker with eight pancakes this season. According to the scouting report for Brinson via 247 Sports, Brinson appears to be adept at 50/50 balls which Miami desperately needs at WR.

Brinson is more than a WR willing to fight for the ball. The Miami passing game has gotten better on deep balls in the second half of the season. Brinson will compete for playing time at WR and be able to provide the Hurricanes deep threat who can break tackles and generate yards after the catch per recruiting analyst Andrew Ivins.

Ivins states that Brinson needs to work on his route running and release at the line of scrimmage. Brinson will be the type of player willing to learn and become part of the culture head coach Manny Diaz and his staff are hoping to change. Miami signed four WRs in the class of 2020. The Miami depth at WR is positive for the future.
