Miami football fans should have an interest in the National Championship game with the Hurricanes playing Alabama in the 2021 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Classic in the season opener.

The Miami football team will open the 2021 season in the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Classic in Atlanta against Alabama. Alabama plays in the College Football Playoff Championship game on Monday night at Hard Rock Stadium. Several Alabama freshmen and sophomores are worth watching closely on Monday night.

Bama Hammer, the partner site for Canes Warning provided us with a list of players to watch who are freshman and sophomores and therefore will return to Alabama in 2021. Alabama has had a fairly young defense this season. Several Crimson Tide underclassmen are leading the way for Alabama on defense.

Miami should return most of its offense in 2021. Quarterback D’Eriq King is taking advantage of the extra season granted to fall sports 2020 athletes. Tight end Brevin Jordan is entering the NFL Draft following his junior season. Senior wide receiver Mike Harley and graduate offensive tackle Jarrid Willams have decisions to make.

Miami will have a challenge against an Alabama defense that could be better in 2021 than it has been this season. The Crimson Tide has been bend but not break this season. Alabama is 12th nationally in scoring defense and 32nd in total defense. The Crimson Tide offense was elite this season and could be the bigger challenge.

Alabama will be searching for a new offensive coordinator for the 2021 season with Steve Sarkisian is leaving to take the head coaching job at Texas. Offensive line coach Kyle Flood is following Sarkisian to Austin. Nick Saban has kept Alabama elite despite frequent changes in his staff throughout his Alabama tenure.
