Jordan Battle sophomore safety

Sophomore safety Jordan Battle is a name that should be familiar to Miami football fans. Battle was signed by Alabama out of St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale. Battle is third on Alabama with 63 tackles this season, has three TFLs and four pass breakups. Battle played in all 13 games with four starts as a freshman.

This season Battle has become a full-time starter. Battle and the Crimson Tide secondary have been susceptible against the pass this season. Battle and the Crimson Tide defense rank 79th allowing 242.9 yards per game. Ohio State is 32nd averaging 272.3 passing yards per game.

Saban and Alabama defensive coaching staff will be challenged to slow the Buckeyes passing game. Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields. Northwestern was able to slow Fields in the Big 10 Championship Game, but Sermon burned the Wildcats for 351 rushing yards. It will be interesting to watch Saban versus Ohio State’s Ryan Day.

Battle had his best game this season with 11 tackles against Kentucky. Against Mississippi, Battle had five tackles and a pick-six. Battle is one of a handful of players who will get a chance to win a National Championship in his hometown. The Miami football program has to be able to sign local DBs to become nationally relevant again.
