5 Alabama players to watch in NC game who will play against Miami football in 2021 opener
Freshman Star (safety) Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore earned freshmen All-American honors in 2020. Moore signed with the Crimson Tide out of Trussville, Alabama. As a true freshman, Moore has 44 tackles, four TFL, three interceptions and four pass breakups. Moore was the 211th ranked player and ninth-ranked safety in the Class of 2020.
Under Saban, Alabama has continually turned out defensive backs to the NFL and Moore has played as a freshman with a bright future pointing to the NFL. Although the Crimson Tide has struggled in pass defense in 2020, the WRs are going to have to improve drastically for the Miami football team to stay competitive.
The next step for the Miami football team to become a top program is to win the big games. In this era, having playmaking WRs, DBs and elite edge rushers are critical for success. Moore should take the next step as sophomore in 2021 and challenge to become an All-American.
The Alabama game can set a precedent for the Miami football team like openers against LSU and Florida did in 2018 and 2019. Those seasons ended 7-6 and 6-7. Miami lost 33-17 to LSU in a game the Hurricanes were favored and was not that close. Miami lost to Florida 24-20 in the 2019 season opener.
