Miami basketball hopes to continue momentum at Syracuse: Game information
The Miami basketball team will hope to build on the momentum they gained with a 78-72 victory over Louisville on Saturday when they travel to Syracuse on Tuesday. The Orange are coming off of a 96-76 loss at Pittsburgh on Saturday. Miami won 69-65 in overtime last year in Coral Gables.
Isaiah Wong continued his outstanding season with 30 points, seven rebounds and six assists in the victory over the Cardinals. Wong was supported by freshman forward Matt Cross who scored 16 making four of his six three-point attempts and transfer Elijah Olaniyi with 15 points.
Syracuse is led by guard Alan Griffin who scored eight against the Miami basketball team last season for Illinois and forward Quincy Guerrier. Griffin is averaging 16.7 points per game, 7.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists. Guerrier is averaging 16.5 PPG and 9.7 RPG. Jim Boeheim is utilizing his usual tight rotation for the Orange.
Six Syracuse players average over 20 minutes per game. Only two more reserves averaged over nine minutes per game. The Syracuse matchup zone continues to be elite defensively. Opponents shoot 40 percent against Syracuse which ranks 56th nationally and makes 29.7 percent of three-point attempts which is 54th nationally.

The Miami basketball team travels to Syracuse battling with the Orange for 11th in the ACC. The Hurricanes have played three more ACC games this season. There is no information ahead of the game Tuesday night if Miami will get either Chris Lykes or Kameron McGusty back for the game against the Orange.
Lykes has missed the last eight Miami games and McGusty six of the last seven. Lykes and McGusty were both returning starters in the backcourt from 2019-20. Freshman wing Earl Timberlake also missed the Hurricanes win on Saturday. Timberlake is expected to return on Tuesday against Syracuse.

O’Brien should be familiar to Miami fans after calling multiple Hurricanes football games this fall. Cory Alexander has been the analyst often for Miami games in recent years and was Lykes’ AAU coach.
