The ACC released the complete conference football schedule on Thursday morning. Miami will play ACC Coastal Division favorite North Carolina on October 16. The Miami football team will have 16 days off before traveling to Chapel Hill to try and avenge an embarrassing 62-26 loss to the Tar Heels at Hard Rock Stadium in 2020.
After non-conference game games against Alabama in Atlanta and hosting Appalachian State, Michigan State and Central Connecticut State, Miami will begin ACC play hosting Virginia on Thursday, September 30. The Hurricanes have defeated the Cavaliers the last two years and won five out of the last six against UVA.
Miami will host Virginia for the third straight season following the shuffling of the 2020 schedule because of COVID-19. After the 16-day layoff comes the most important game of the 2021 season against North Carolina. The Tar Heels will be favored to win the ACC Coastal division with Miami likely picked second.
Miami and North Carolina return the top two quarterbacks in the ACC. Sam Howell of North Carolina will probably be the preseason first-team All-ACC QB with D’Eriq King of Miami likely chosen for the second team. The game against North Carolina begins a seven-game stretch to finish the Miami football season.
Georgia Tech is the only team on the Miami schedule in 2021 they did not play in 2020. The Hurricanes ACC crossover game besides Florida State in 2021 is against North Carolina State. Miami defeated the Wolfpack 44-41 in Raleigh in a game they needed a late touchdown for the victory.
