DE Quincy Roche improved draft stock during Senior Bowl week
Miami Hurricanes defensive end Quincy Roche has improved his draft stock as an edge rusher in the 2021 NFL Draft during practices at Senior Bowl week in Mobile, Alabama. Roche had 45 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries, two pass breakups and one forced fumble.
Quincy Roche transferred to Miami for the 2020 season after three years playing for Temple. Roche measured at 6 feet, 2 7/8, 243 pounds, a wingspan of 80 3/8 inches, a 32-inch arm length and a hand size of 9.5 inches according to 247Sports.Com. Roche was listed at 6’3, 245 pounds on the official Miami Hurricanes website.
Roche is projected as a second-day (first or second round) or early third-day pick in the NFL Draft. Versatility to play outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense or DE in a 4-3 should help the draft status for Roche. Roche is the third-highest ranked edge rusher in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Ahead of Roche are former Miami DE Greg Rousseau who opted out before the 2020 season and Patrick Jones II of Pittsburgh according to the CBS Sports rankings of edge rushers. Rousseau is the 14th ranked player overall, Jones II 31st and Roche 48th which would be halfway through the second round.

Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.Com went more in-depth about the skill set Roche has displayed during Senior Bowl week. Jeremiah praised Roche for being relentless during Senior Bowl practices. Roche has been able to improve his draft stock in one season at Miami playing against elite offenses like Clemson and North Carolina.
"Daniel Jeremiah NFL.ComQuincy Roche, edge rusher, Miami. I think Roche came into the week as a likely early Day 3 (Rounds 4-7) pick, but he probably pushed himself up to Day 2 (Rounds 2-3) based on his work at the Senior Bowl. I came away impressed by how hard he battled from rep to rep. He just kept showing up in team drills. He has heavy hands and a motor that runs hot."
Roche is one of three Miami edge rushers expected to drafted in the early rounds. Jaelan Phillips will likely be selected ahead of Roche. Phillips is projected to be a first or second-day selection and could be drafted ahead of Rousseau. Replacing Phillips and Roche will be difficult for the Miami defense in 2021.
