The Miami football program has been named one of eight finalists for offensive tackle Grant Bingham. Bingham is the fourth-ranked player in Kentucky in the Class of 2022. Bingham named Miami with Arkansas, Kentucky Nebraska, Northwestern Notre Dame, Michigan and West Virginia as the other seven finalists.

There are currently no crystal balls for Bingham. Kentucky is getting the home-state treatment right now with the Wildcats the only team that 247Sports lists as warm for Bingham. Bingham is the 336th ranked player in the Class of 2022 and 37th ranked OT in addition to being the fourth-ranked player in Kentucky.

It’s surprising that Louisville is not one of the eight finalists for Bingham. Four-star Bingham lives in Paintsville, Kentucky which is about 120 miles Southeast of Lexington. Miami has not yet officially offered Bingham a scholarship according to his 247 timeline. Miami has offered 21 OTs in the Class of 2022 scholarships.

Four-star Miami Columbus OT Julian Armella is the only one listed as warm towards Miami according to 247. At 6’6, 302 pounds, Bingham already has the perfect size to play OT in college. Four-star Michael McLaughlin was the only OT Miami signed in the 2021 Class. McLaughlin is the 25th ranked OT.

Miami will lose OT Jarrid Williams and guard Navaughn Donaldson following the 2021 season. Several other Hurricanes OL will be eligible for the NFL Draft. Delone Scaife who would have been a senior has two years of eligibility remaining entering this season following the extra year granted to everyone by the NCAA.

Next. Miami football exceeded expectations in 2020. dark

The Miami offensive line should continue to improve over the next few seasons. The Hurricanes who were extremely young upfront in 2019 should be able to continue to develop the OL and start upperclassmen over the next few seasons. Entering his second season with Miami OL coach Garin Justice has been frequently praised.
