A report from the Sun-Sentinel that the Pro Day for the Miami football program will be March 29 will have added significance in 2021. The NFL Combine usually taking place at the end of February, the beginning of March has been canceled for this year because of COVID-19. Without the Combine, Pro Days are more important in 2021.

With 19 starters back in 2021 only five Miami football players are scheduled to take part in Pro Day. Defensive ends Gregory Rousseau, Jaelan Phillips and Quincy Roche, tight end Brevin Jordan and kicker Jose Borregales will workout and take part in drills in front of NFL Scouts. Rousseau opted out of the 2020 season.

Phillips and Rousseau are projected as 2021 NFL first-round draft picks with Roche and Jordan potentially being taken on day two in the second or third round. Rousseau recorded 19.5 tackles for loss and 15.5 sacks in 2019 during a season he received multiple honors during a 6-7 Miami football season.

Rousseau was named the ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year, First-team All-ACC, Second Team All-American and a Freshman All-American. Phillips had an outstanding season for Miami in 2020 replacing Rousseau. Playing all 11 games, Phillips had 45 tackles led Miami with 15.5 TFLs and eight sacks and added three pass breakups.

Phillips earned a pair of second-team All-America honors in 2020 and was named second-team All-ACC. Roche equaled Phillips’ 45 tackles, was slightly behind him with 14.5 TFLs had 4.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles. Roche was named third-team All-ACC in 2020.

Jordan has battled injuries throughout his Miami career. In eight games in 2020, Jordan had 38 receptions for 576 yards and tied for the Hurricanes lead with wide receiver Mike Harley with seven touchdowns. Borregales was the first first-team consensus All-American for Miami since safety Antrel Rolle in 2004.

Playing in all 11 games in 2020, Borregales made all 37 of his extra points and 20 of 22 field-goal attempts after transferring from Florida International. If Borregales is not draft he will certainly get have opportunities as a non-roster invitee for the 2021 season. Pro Day will be in front of coaches, executives and scouts.
