Miami basketball faces tough final road game at Virginia: Game info
The Miami basketball team brings a five-game losing streak and losses in nine of their last 10 games playing at Virginia Monday night. Miami will play their final road game of the regular season in Charlottesville. The Hurricanes will conclude the regular season on Friday night at the Watsco Center against Boston College.
Miami played well but lost 66-58 at Clemson on Saturday. Isaiah Wong continues to shine for Miami. Wong scored 28 in the loss to the Tigers. The outburst by Wong on Saturday elevated him to third in the ACC in scoring averaging 17.77 points per game. Wong needs to play well for Miami to have a chance against Virginia.
The Cavaliers are 15-6 overall, 11-4, second in the ACC behind Florida State. The Miami basketball team was swept by Florida State in two games this season. Virginia is led by their trademark defense. The Cavaliers are seventh nationally allowing 60.6 points per game. Virginia will host Miami with losses in three straight games.
Virginia is led by Marquette transfer Sam Hauser who is averaging 15.3 PPG and 6.8 rebounds. Center Jay Huff is averaging 13.6 PPG, 7.0 RPG and 2.5 blocks per game. The Miami frontline of Nysier Brooks, Anthony Walker and Deng Gak are going to be productive for the Hurricanes defensively against the Cavaliers.

Someone other than Wong has to step up against Virginia. Walker was the only other double-figure scorer for the Miami basketball team against Clemson with 13 and added 10 rebounds. Virginia is a bad matchup for Miami. The Hurricanes have struggled to score at times this season, especially if Wong is having a bad game.

The game plan Miami has had with only six scholarship players feeds into the Cavaliers style of play. Expect another low-scoring game to match the one Miami and Virginia had last season. Miami needs to try and be aggressive getting to the basket, especially against Huff. The adage is go right at a shot blocker.
